Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts about 3 to 4 medium pieces
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • Lemon juice chopped parsley, or hot sauce, optional for finishing

Equipment

  • 1 Air fryer
  • 1 Food thermometer
  • 1 Meat mallet or rolling pin Optional, for evening out thick chicken breasts

Method

  1. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
  2. If the chicken breasts are very thick, pound them to an even 3/4-inch to 1-inch thickness.
  3. Rub chicken with oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and oregano.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 375 F if your model recommends preheating.
  5. Arrange chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  6. Air fry for 9 to 13 minutes for medium chicken breasts, flipping halfway through. Thicker pieces may need a few extra minutes.
  7. Check the thickest part with a food thermometer. Chicken should reach 165 F internal temperature.
  8. Rest chicken for 5 minutes before slicing or dicing.
  9. Portion into meal prep containers with rice, vegetables, potatoes, salad greens, or wraps.

Notes

Nutrition is an estimate and will vary by chicken brand, oil amount, seasoning, and serving size. Cook chicken to 165 F internal temperature as measured with a food thermometer.
